Educational Goals of the Hebrew Department

To study the Hebrew language with the following goals in mind:

To speak conversational Hebrew
To strengthen comprehension of literature written in classical and modern Hebrew
To enhance the study of the Tanach, the mefarshim and Rabbinic literature
To strengthen the understanding of Tefillot and Kriat HaTorah
To strengthen oral comprehension of the spoken Hebrew language
To strengthen written communication
To strengthen Hebrew grammar to assist the students in accurate, fluent reading
To connect students to the land, people and culture of Israel through Israeli songs and newspapers
