Parashat HaShavua

Parashat HaShavua is a course whose goal is to familiarize students with the contents of the weekly sedra so that they will gain background in the Torah narrative even before they are able to advance in the study of Tanach b’Iyun as they move along in the grades. By studying the content of the parasha for Bekiut, they become acquainted with the diverse characters who populate the Torah, and conversant with the chronicles of Jewish History as described in the stories of our forefathers and mothers and the subsequent events of the Exodus, the giving of the Torah, the years in the desert and the formation of the nation of Israel and its governance by Divine Law and as the nation prepares for entry into its own land and the challenges to be faced in the future. Both text and selected Rashi commentaries are studied in this course, in addition to divrei Torah for the Shabbat table.
