Drama

Shulamith School places emphasis on music, drama, dance, and art. Shulamith is proud of the drama program, which is an invaluable, practical, and educational experience for each child that participates. Through the fine arts drama program the girls receive a balanced learning experience.

From the beginning of their education at Shulamith School for Girls, the girls eagerly await the opportunity to participate in the sixth grade off-Broadway production so they can showcase their obvious and hidden talents. The sixth grade students audition, practice and perform a full musical production in the spring that is admired and eagerly awaited by the entire student body, faculty, and community.

Under the expert direction and care of Mrs. Ellen M. Basch’s each child acquires: improved speaking skills: diction, inflection, intonation, projection, clarity, poise and self-esteem, creative expression, self-confidence, stronger and new friendships, people skills, memorization and timing, respect and derech eretz, coordination and performance skills, and irreplaceable life-long memories.

Past Productions include: Annie, Annie Get Your Gun, Cinderella, Double Trouble, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, Peter Pan, The Sound of Music, and The Wizard of Oz.
